I write novels and picture books, poems and essays. I find I keep coming back to themes of cross-cultural friendships, migration, war and resilience of families, the young as witnesses to the world, and always, dogs.
I write to understand crossing borders of all kinds — between cultures, generations, and experiences, even species. Behind the stories, my research is usually listening, immersion in new experiences and often journeys to places, and I never know why until I come home.
