“Stories Have the Power to Create a More Hopeful World”

SitaI came upon this article in the Guardian. It was composed by the British children’s book writer, Sita Brahmachari, the daughter of a British nurse and a father who  came to England from Kolkata.  She was responding  to Great Britain’s vote to leave the EU.  (A Slate article tells the story of Why Immigration Pushed Britons to Brexit.)  As I write, a tragedy is unfolding in  France.  The need is exponentially larger each day for young readers to be offered ideas of  hope.  So tonight I’m passing on Sita’s essay about books for children   “to  create a more hopeful world.”   https://www.theguardian.com/childrens-books-site/2016/jun/27/stories-power-hopeful-world-sita-brahmachari-brexit

Many children’s and young adult book writers believe this and we will continue to write the books.
